Walter Brennan (1894–1974) was an American character actor and the first person in history to win three Oscars for Best Supporting Actor — a milestone he achieved early in his career, long before many legends earned even one. After losing most of his teeth in a 1932 on-set accident, he used the ability to remove his dentures to transform himself into older, rougher characters, even while still in his 40s.
