The smalltooth sawfish (Pristis pectinata) is one of five species of sawfish, and is the only species of sawfish found in Florida waters. Sawfish belong to a subclass of cartilagnious fish called elasmobranchs that also includes sharks, rays, and skates. 🎥: Single Fin Photo The smalltooth sawfish in this video is estimated to be about 12-13ft (3.6-4m) with the saw itself between 2.5 and 3ft (nearly ~1m)! Ever wondered how a sawfish is fed? Let's take a closer look.... 🎥 Sawfish eat fish and crustaceans, and feed at the bottom of Endless Ocean as their mouths are on their underside. 🦐 Their rostrum, or ‘saw’, is used to detect and capture prey. It has a high concentration of ampullae of Lorenzini, which are used to detect weak electric currents given off by moving fish.
