White tones are rarely just white. Make the whites of your painting pop by layering cool highlights ontop of warm base tones. In this example I created a variety of warm tan tones for the white feathers to create depth. Then I created a cool version with a touch of blue in it as the highlight. The soft shift in the temperature makes the intensity in the white tones stand out.
