Albert Speer (1905–1981) was a German architect and Nazi functionary. As Reich Minister for Armaments and War Production (1942–1945), he organized the war economy of the Third Reich and thus prolonged the war considerably. Speer was jointly responsible for the use of forced laborers, but later denied this to some extent. After the war, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Nuremberg.
