The easiest step is solving the first layer edges of the Rubik's Cube. Choose one color you want to start with. In this beginner's tutorial we're going to start with the white face.

Find an edge piece in the top layer without yellow as either of its 2 colors. Turn the top so that it matches a center. Face the piece and check if the top color matches the right center or left center.

EDGES. There are 12 edge pieces on a standard 3x3 Rubik’s Cube. Each edge piece has two colored tiles, which correspond to the two adjacent center pieces on the cube. For example, an edge piece that lies between the white and blue faces will have one white tile and one blue tile.

Move the corresponding edge and corner pieces of that color next to the center cube while making sure the top outside row colors line up (may the thinking juices flow). Let's break down that last part... What you're basically trying to do is this:

There are twelve edge pieces on a Rubik's Cube, although you can only see nine in this diagram. Each edge piece has two stickers, and these two stickers are always from adjacent centers. No two opposite colors can ever be on the same edge.

When the edge piece is on the right spot but oriented wrong or it's not in the upper layer you'll have fix it in two steps, first it needs to be taken to the top of the cube. In the example below we use the Right algorithm twice.
