The Texas Department of State Health Services reported Tuesday its measles cases, which date back to late January, had grown to 663 cases as of Tuesday, marking a jump of 17 cases since the state’s last update as 87 of the patients have been hospitalized while two school-aged children have been confirmed dead from the illness.

Nearly all measles infections seen during the Texas outbreak are among individuals who have not been vaccinated, or whose vaccination status is unknown.

The Texas Department of State Health Services today reported 17 more measles cases from the West Texas outbreak, bringing the state's total to 663. In other developments, Arkansas reported its fourth case, which hints at local spread, and Mexico's government issued a travel advisory for the United States and Canada owing to measles outbreaks.
