Canada may have worked out a 30-day trade war truce with the U.S., but agribusiness operators in southwestern Ontario say dealing with the threat of tariffs has been an expensive distraction.

Feb. 3, 1:57 p.m. EST Trump announced the tariffs against Canada will be paused for 30 days, saying the longtime U.S. ally will implement a $1.3 billion border reinforcement plan that will bolster the U.S.-Canada border with “new choppers, technology and personnel... and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a call with President Trump said Canada was already implementing an existing ambitious plan to beef up border security with more personnel and technology.
