A deadly Legionnaires' disease outbreak in New York City has set health and community leaders on a campaign to educate the public on ways to prevent the bacteria from growing and spreading.

A Legionnaires' disease outbreak in New York City has infected 67 people and caused three deaths, the city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said.

Nearly 60 people have become sick and two have died in an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in New York City. Health officials there issued an alert on July 30 warning residents of Central Harlem who have flu-like symptoms to see a health care provider immediately.
