Philip Rivers signed a one-day contract to retire with the Chargers. It came more than four years after his initial retirement announcement.

Nearly five years after his final NFL game, Philip Rivers has officially retired as a member of the Chargers, the team with which he spent 16 of his 17 seasons. Rivers, who spent his final season with the Indianapolis Colts, made the announcement in an emotional video that the Chargers posted on X on Monday evening.

Quarterback Philip Rivers retired from the NFL in 2021. Four years later, he's taken the step of officially doing it as a member of the Chargers.
