Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican legislative leaders reached a deal over illegal immigration Monday night that would require the governor to share enforcement powers with members of the Florida Cabinet.

Legislative leaders said the new session was called "for the exclusive purpose of passing legislation to combat illegal immigration."

GOP legislative leaders will convene another special session as they try again to pass sweeping new measures to boost immigration enforcement.
