Inmate dies in Birmingham City Jail
An inmate has died while being held in the Birmingham City Jail, according to the coroner's office. Sonny Charles Leppala, 55, of Birmingham died yesterday at the jail after staff found him unresponsive in his cell during a routine wellness check at 1:29 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 2:19 a.m.
