Despite the recent cold snap in Middle Tennessee, it was still the second-warmest first half of March on record in the area.
A portion of Tennessee, that does not include Nashville, is at a "low probability, high impact scenario" for tornadoes, the weather service said.
The storms Sunday night into Monday morning across Middle Tennessee were very significant. Most of the damage reported was due to straight line winds, as wind gusts ranged from 50 to 65 mph.
Weather service officials in Nashville have extended an active wind advisory for all of Middle Tennessee and report a higher chance of tornadoes as severe thunderstorms hit the region Sunday night.
