The Mets said they did their due diligence before drafting Michigan's Mitch Voit, who celebrated a hit against USC this spring by pretending to snort the baseline chalk.
Voit suffered a shoulder injury at the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in September 2023, which kept him out until mid-December of that year. After a brief stint with the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers, Voit made his Marlies debut on Dec. 20 and suffered another shoulder injury.
The team placed the young winger on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a contract termination, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday.
