Just as left-handed pitcher Kyle Freeland was starting to round into form, the Colorado Rockies lost the veteran for at least two weeks due to a lower back injury.

The Colorado Rockies on Sunday placed left-hander Kyle Freeland on the injured list with lower back stiffness, while left-hander Austin Gomber was activated from the 60-day IL and lefty Carson Palmquist was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Rockies announced that southpaw Kyle Freeland has been placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 12) due to lower back stiffness.  Left-hander Carson Palmquist was just optioned to Triple-A three days ago,
