The New England Patriots have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs to a two-year, $8 million deal. Dobbs will be Drake Maye’s backup, and that could mean a murky future for Joe Milton, who is now a possible trade target.

Milton came out of Tennessee as a strong-armed, but raw quarterback. In his one game of playing time with the Patriots, he impressed, throwing for 241 yards and one touchdown while completing 75.9 percent of his passes.

After Justin Fields signed with the New York Jets, and Russell Wilson appears to be on the way out of Pittsburgh as well, the Steelers are expected to deal for a promising if raw New England Patriots quarterback.

The Patriots agreed to terms on a two-year contract with veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs, per his agent Mike McCartney. The deal is worth $8 million with $3.8M fully guaranteed, per NFL Media.
