The New York Yankees announced Friday morning that they are altering their longstanding facial hair policy. Players and uniformed personnel will now be allowed to have "well-groomed beards," team chairman Hal Steinbrenner said in a statement.
Yankees’ facial hair policy is not the only tradition changing in 2025
The “New York, New York” tradition began in 1980, when former owner George Steinbrenner wrote Sinatra a letter to ask permission to play the tune as fans exited the stadium. A different rotation of Sinatra songs will now play after losses.
