Inter Miami finished their run in the CONCACAF Champions League, losing to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the semifinals with an aggregate score of 0-2, 1-3. Following the elimination, fans of the team expressed their dissatisfaction with the performance of team captain Lionel Messi.

When he was announced as Inter Miami CF coach, Javier Mascherano made it clear his team's goal was to win every major competition it competed in: the MLS Cup, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the Leagues Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
