A series of cross-country storms will spread winter weather across the central and northeastern parts of the United States through the rest of the week, with snow, ice and heavy rain in the forecast.

New Mexicans are expected to get a break from the the above-normal temperature trend this week, as storm systems pass through the region and temperatures drop.

Parts of the Mount Baker wilderness could get 2 to 4 feet of snow, weather service meteorologists said.
