A pair of storm systems sweeping across the country this week will bring snow, ice and thunderstorms, forecasters said.

Sunday will give a taste of the cold air with temperatures barely reaching 40 degrees and wind chills lingering in the 30s. After a brief warm-up on Monday and Tuesday, temperatures are expected to drop significantly on Wednesday, January 14, and stay below average through the weekend.

Snow started falling across Colorado early Thursday morning, prompting multiple winter weather advisories south and west of Denver, according to the National Weather Service.
