A winter storm watch alerts the public to the possibility of heavy snow, freezing rain or sleet. Winter Storm watches are usually issued 12 to 48 hours ahead of predicted severe weather.

A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 9:16 a.m. valid from 4 p.m. until Thursday 5 a.m. for Northern St. Lawrence, Northern Franklin, Southeastern St. Lawrence,

In the advisory, the National Weather Service warned, “Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Difficult travel conditions arepossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.”

The National Weather Service says up to 2 inches of snow, sleet, and ice may cause dangerous travel conditions through 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
