"Snow, ice & rain" in the forecast Tuesday night could lead to a slick Wednesday morning commute, according to Boston area meteorologists.
Snow showers begin to develop west to east as a fast-moving clipper arrives in the area beginning roughly between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. tonight. Most of the conditions will begin as light, fluffy snow accumulating before drier air and scattered conditions take over.
The second storm of the week arrives late Friday, blanketing the region through the overnight hours and into early Saturday morning.

Snow is expected to fall across Massachusetts as the East Coast rings in the new year. Most cities and towns are forecast to see at least a light coating, with snow showers expected to begin Wednesday evening, Dec. 31, and continue into Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, according to the National Weather Service.
