Massachusetts could see as much as 3 inches of snowfall on Monday as a frigid start to the new year continues. The snow is expected to begin on Monday afternoon, around 1 p.m., and continue until about 8 p.m., though National Weather Service forecasters say the precipitation could end as freezing rain for some parts of the Bay State.

Wayne and northern Cayuga Counties may see 1-to-2 feet of snow, with up to three feet locally. Travel will be “very difficult to impossible in the heaviest bands of snow with near zero visibility and deep snow cover on roads,” says the NWS Buffalo office.
By 5 a.m. Thursday, 20 inches of snow is expected to fall on Mount Zirkel, the highest peak of Colorado’s Park Range of the Rocky Mountains, according to the NWS.
While areas of northern Wisconsin received over a foot of snowfall overnight Dec. 28-29, southern Wisconsin received around 1 inch. Still, high winds causing blowing and drifting snow caused the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory even for areas with low accumulation, like Milwaukee.
The Alaskan city of Juneau has seen nearly a season's worth of snow this December, sinking boats in the harbor and threatening roof collapses and avalanches.
