After the Notre Dame football program withdrew their name from bowl consideration, Brady Quinn said bowl games are in danger of going extinct.

Notre Dame has announced it will not participate in a bowl game this year, joining Iowa State and Kansas State in declining postseason invitations.

When there aren't enough eligible teams for the postseason, the NCAA considers programs that are transitioning to the FBS, which typically cannot compete in a bowl game in their first season after moving up. That allowed Missouri State and Delaware to advance to the postseason.

The FSU Seminoles have declined their 2025 bowl game invitation after a 5-7 season, officially putting a close on the season.

Texas State takes on Rice in the Armed Forces Bowl on Jan. 2 at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, home of the TCU Horned Frogs. Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
