The Met Office has issued a rare 'danger to life' wind warning. The forecaster has upgraded its wind warning for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly from amber to red, saying the weather will now pose a "danger to life". The red warning comes into play at 4pm and will remain until 11pm.
Trees have come down, roads are blocked and tens of thousands of properties are without power across Cornwall as Storm Goretti sweeps through. Widespread disruption has hit as expected across the county as strong winds spread throughout the evening during Storm Goretti, with speeds of up to 100mph predicted.

Heavy snow is forecast, which will clear to wintry showers during Tuesday night. The Met Office predicts a further five to 10 centimetres is expected for the region, with snowfall of up to 15 centimetres possible in some areas, particularly in places that are 200 metres above sea level.
