Intel’s New CEO Promises ‘The New Intel’ Will Be Better Than the Old One
Intel has a new boss. The new chief executive officer is Lip-Bu Tan, a former Intel board of directors member and chip software maker Cadence Design Systems. He’s promising to “double down” on things that are working and “take calculated risks” where things aren’t working nearly as well.

Zinsner will remain executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Johnston Holthaus will remain CEO of Intel Products. Frank D. Yeary, who took on the role of interim executive chair of the board during the search for a new CEO, will revert to being the independent chair of the board upon Tan becoming CEO.

The interim leaders "brought the discipline and focus needed to improve our execution, stabilize our performance and position our company for the future," Intel Chairman Frank Yeary said in a public message to Intel employees. "The business is in a better position today than it was three months ago."
