Much of the GTA is under a freezing rain yellow warning this morning as a messy mix of winter weather arrives Monday.
If the temperature dips below freezing when the rain hits overnight, it could cause freezing rain and icy roads with as much as 0.2 inches of ice in some parts of southern Minnesota, the weather service said on X.
A special weather statement has been issued for Toronto as freezing rain is expected to transition to heavy snow this evening.
A Gale Warning is in effect for eastern and central Lake Superior from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, with southeast winds gusting to gale force. Mariners should exercise extreme caution, as another round of gales appears likely Sunday into Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County warning of several hours of freezing rain on Tuesday. Roads and sidewalks may become slippery as the ice is expected to build up over the course of the day.
The warning is for most of Tuesday morning as a mix of light rain and freezing rain moves into central Minnesota.
