February's full moon will shine in the skies above Indiana shortly before Valentine's Day. Coincidentally, according to NASA, this is the month when Venus — named after the Roman goddess of love — shines her brightest.

February has been a big month for astronomical events. There was a six planetary alignment, or “planet parade,” to kick off the month and five planets that will be visible with a set of binoculars or a small telescope throughout the rest of the month.

February's full Moon is known as the Snow Moon, after the heavy snowfall often associated with this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, but is also sometimes called the Storm Moon or Hungry Moon.
