Syria's defense minister has announced a ceasefire just hours after government forces entered a key city in the volatile Sweida province.

The Israeli bombings come after the Syrian government and a Druze leader both said the truce had been broken. Israeli forces have launched air strikes on Suwayda in southern Syria, as fighting returned to the predominantly Druze city hours after the Syrian government declared a ceasefire.
