The trends on Gift Nifty indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,135 level, a premium of nearly 12 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, opened higher on Thursday, breaking a six-day losing streak, driven by gains in banking and financial stocks as investors responded to domestic inflation data suggesting a potential rate cut.

Sensex climbed 457.60 points, or 0.60 per cent, to 76,628.68. Nifty stood at 23,195.60, up 150.35 points or 0.65 per cent.

At 10 AM, the BSE Sensex was higher by 415 points, or 0.55 per cent, at 76,586.25, and the Nifty 50 was at 23,176.25, ahead by 131 points, or 0.57 per cent. FIIs net sold Indian equities worth Rs 4,969.30 crore on Wednesday, February 12, while domestic institutional investors net bought shares worth Rs 5,929.24 in the previous trading session.
