Japan's Ueno Zoo is returning the country's last two pandas to China at a time when relationships between the two countries have hit an all time low.
Japan's last giant pandas, Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei, are leaving Tokyo's Ueno Zoo for a breeding facility in China. Their departure marks the end of more than five decades of pandas in Japan and is seen as a sign of deteriorating China-Japan relations amidst political tensions.
Japanese fans gathered around Tokyo's Ueno Zoo on Tuesday to bid farewell to the country's last two giant pandas. The twin pandas were transported by truck from the zoo to Narita Airport, where they are scheduled to board a flight back to China on Tuesday evening,
