BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) — A man posing as a police officer shot and killed a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband in a brazen attack at their home early Saturday, and a second lawmaker and his wife were wounded in a separate shooting in what Gov. Tim Walz described as “targeted political violence.”
The Patrol said on social media that "No kings" flyers were found in the vehicle of the suspect in a pair of shootings that left Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband dead Saturday.
Vance Boelter, who is the suspect in the Minnesota lawmakers' shootings, was reportedly the CEO of a company named Red Lions Group with connections to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Thousands of demonstrators marched through downtown Fayetteville on Saturday calling for the defense of democracy and the rejection of authoritarianism.
