The Athletic polled 50 decisionmakers around the NFL to rank veteran quarterbacks, and they put Spencer Rattler at 33rd out of 34 qualifiers:

Increasingly in the New Orleans Saints quarterback competition, the battle seems to be centered around the adage of, 'It’s not about how you start, but how you finish.'

Shough came into the preseason No. 2 on the depth chart as Spencer Rattler held an early edge. Neither quarterback was able to seize the starting job after week 1, but it appeared Shough was able to shorten the gap.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, guard Trevor Penning is expected to miss a few weeks with a foot injury. Penning has been moved inside to guard from tackle this offseason. He was carted off the field on Sunday during the team’s preseason opener against the Chargers in Los Angeles.
