Chantal made landfall near Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, at approximately 4 a.m. July 6 and is moving inland over northeastern South Carolina.

Chantal weakened into a post-tropical cyclone after forming off the coast of Florida, bringing significant flooding to several Eastern U.S. states, according to the National Hurricane Center. Chantal became a tropical depression on Friday, bringing heavy rain to Central Florida.

The biggest threat from the developing system will be rain, AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva told Newsweek, although he doesn't expect Chantal to become a hurricane.
