Once dismissed by Elon Musk, China's BYD has now surpassed Tesla to become the world’s top electric-vehicle seller in 2025.
BYD sold 4.6 million vehicles last year, compared to 4.3 million in 2024. Monthly sales for December dropped by 18.3% year-on-year.
BYD Company (BYDDF) reported December 2025 new energy vehicle (NEV) sales of 420,398 units, down from 514,809 units a year earlier, even as full-year NEV sales rose 7.73% Y/Y to 4.60M vehicles, underscoring the company’s scale and resilience in a highly competitive EV market.
