Brave New World” can claim the biggest opening weekend of this young calendar year. The Disney release ripped into $40 million across Friday and preview screenings from 4,105 locations. That already clears the record-holding $36 million debut of Universal’s “Dog Man.

Brave New World, even just a trailer, you essentially know the entire story before the characters do, and shockingly, what was supposed to be the climax of the film, a twist ending you’re not supposed to see coming as the villain’s master plan comes to a head.
