Disney could eliminate billions in operating expenses by merging Hulu fully into Disney+ and phasing out Hulu as a standalone app and service.

Currently, both Disney+ and Hulu are available as standalone subscriptions. Disney+ starts at $7.99 per month with ads, while the ad-free version costs $13.99 per month. Hulu’s ad-supported plan also begins at $7.99 per month, with its ad-free tier priced at $17.99 per month.

Walt Disney Co. is integrating Hulu and Disney+ into one app, the entertainment company announced Wednesday. During an earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said Disney would combine the two streaming services to create a "unified app experience" that will feature entertainment, news and sports.
